Previous success story
After 25 years of sailing in Nordic waters, Anders and Lotta Jakobsson longed for longer seasons at sea and to discover something new. With Yacht-Match, they found a way to own a boat abroad that was tailor-made, safe and convenient.
“We have had several boats over the years and know how much work it involves. We wanted a partner who would look after our needs, not just sell us a boat. If we hadn’t met Yacht-Match, we probably wouldn’t have dared to take the plunge,” says Anders Jakobsson.
Anders and Lotta wanted a completely tailored charter management solution for their Nautitech 48 Open “Luna” in Greece where they can still use their boat at any time while covering the costs by charter income. The couple lives in Vaxholm and has sailed most types of boats, most recently a Linjett 43. Their dream of discovering the Mediterranean led them to visit the boat show in Cannes last year, where they met Yacht-Match. The company is based in Sweden but operates internationally and specialises in helping customers buy, equip and manage boats in a safe and transparent way.
“We don’t work like traditional charter companies or dealers. Our mission is to represent the boat owner, not the shipyard or operator,” says Viktor van Savooyen, one of the founders of Yacht-Match. For Anders and Lotta, the meeting was decisive. With Yacht-Match as their advisor and intermediary, they chose a Nautitech 48 Open. A sailing catamaran built for longer voyages but with a high level of comfort for both family and guests.
The boat was launched in La Rochelle in the summer of 2025, sailed to Cannes for viewing and then found its home port in Lavrion, south of Athens.
“It’s a new way of owning a boat. Yacht-Match took a holistic approach. They helped us with equipment, insurance, berthing and management. It made the whole process secure. Without them, we probably wouldn’t have dared to take the plunge,” continues Anders Jakobsson.
Yacht-Match works in several phases: from advice and specification to delivery, training and long-term operation. In connection with the handover, customers participate in the company’s Onboarding Programme, where they receive several days of training in manoeuvring and system management, while the boat is adapted to their needs.
“We want our customers to feel as safe as if the boat were moored in their own harbour at home. Our role is to be at their side throughout the entire ownership period,” says Viktor van Savooyen.
For Anders and Lotta, this arrangement means that they can rent out the boat on their own terms, but above all use it as a mobile home in the Mediterranean. While many of their friends have invested in apartments on the coast, they chose the freedom to be able to change countries. From Greece to Croatia, Italy and perhaps one day to the Caribbean.
“This is more than a boat, it’s our way of experiencing the world in stages,” says Anders Jakobsson.
Yacht-Match was founded by sailors with backgrounds in chartering, shipbuilding and boat financing. By acting as an independent advisor, the company has established itself as an alternative to standardised charter programmes – a partner for those who want to own a yacht on their own terms.
