Delaware puts a ban on the use of the Delaware registration outside Delaware

Important news about the use of the Delaware registration in the European Union and other countries outside the state of Delaware.

Delaware puts a ban on the use of the Delaware yacht registration outside its own terrority affecting hundreds of yachts cruising in the European Union.


Delaware has accepted new laws and regulations which strictly forbid the use of the Delaware boat registration outside the state of Delaware.
They even have launched criminal cases against boat owners with a max. prison sentence of 1 year and/or serious penalties.


Also, they warn boat owners that a Delaware registration does NOT provide the US nationality to the yacht as it is just an ownership registration.
European authorities have been informed about this important change.
