Our brand-new boat is the only IY 9.98 available for private charter, sailling training and regattas in Split. Designed to allow fun sporting sailing, Italia Yachts 9.98 is particularly suitable for participation in compensated regattas. It is a fast and safe boat, capable of winning two consecutive ORC world championships.

IY 9.98 is also suitable for long cruises, for exhilarating ones sailing performance, combines refined and welcoming interiors finished with craftsmanship. The interior layout provides 2 cabins, a bathroom aft and the central square with dinette, kitchen and correspondence. The modern design features gelcoat surfaces functional both in racing and cruising. Some parts, as wardrobes and cabinets, they are made of fabric and are removable to lighten displacement in racing. The floorboard is made of marine plywood finished in laminated with gray anti-slip. The doors are equipped with thresholds and finished with technical frames in aluminum to increase resistance to sports use. The correspondence is obtained in the area of the square while the kitchen has an “L” layout and is composed of sink, cold room and tilting hob.

The hull of Italia Yachts 9.98 is the result of numerous statistical analyzes and fluid dynamics crossed with each other with performance forecasting programs. The particular geometry obtained allows for very thin water lines and tense straight boat exits to the benefit of load-bearing gaits, while as the heel increases, the lines widen to ensure greater stability of shape while remaining symmetrical. The importance of obtaining clean flows around the deckhouse have represented the common thread for the designers who have designed a functional blanket, ergonomically efficient and safe, suitable for both sailing with crew and with reduced crew.
Design:
The deck lines were modeled looking for the best compromise between ergonomics of maneuvers and of interior spaces and volumes, taking naturally in great consideration is given to the aesthetic aspect. Thanks to its shapes and geometry, a low aerodynamic impact and a dry and modern look were obtained.

Here’s an example of what your racing adventure can look like:
Option 1: Regatta Charter
The boat will be chartered for a specific regatta according to the regatta calendar above. The boat will be chartered with a dedicated and regatta-experienced boat captain on board.
Regatta charter includes at least 2 days of preparation, testing and training before the race. Accommodation will be provided on board. Transportation costs may apply, if the event is not in Split.
Option 2: Racing Training Charter
The boat will be chartered with a dedicated boat captain on board for practice purposes with or without a connecting regatta event. The duration of the charter can be tailored. Accommodation will be provided on board. Transportation costs may apply, if the event is not in Split.
Option 3: Gentlemen’s Cruise
Charter our boat with a dedicated skipper on board and sail according to the pre-agreed route. Accommodation can be provided on board for up to 4 guests or alternatively we plan a hotel-stay. The duration of the cruise can be tailored.
Option 4: Italia Yachts Experience & “Try & Buy”
A half-day test sailing can be provided free of charge to potenial buyers upon request.
Alternatively, a 3-days skippered “try & buy” charter is available upon request.

Start by selecting your desired dates and booking your charter week through our form in advance. This ensures you secure your preferred time slot. Once your charter week is confirmed, book your flights to and from the departure location. Early bookings often offer better deals.

Research and plan the sailing route you wish to explore. Discuss your preferences with the crew to align your expectations. If you don’t know what to see, the crew are happy to assist with their recommendations.
Plan your activities and equipment:
Determine the activities you’d like to enjoy during your trip, such as stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), snorkeling, or other water sports so the crew can prepare the equipment.
Pack smart and travel light:
Soft luggage or bags are better then hard suitcases, as they are easier and safer to stow on board. Focus on essentials like swimwear, a windproof jacket and comfortable clothing – you won’t need a full wardrobe. It‘s also wise to bring anti-seasickness pills just in case.

Soon, he started sharing his knowledge and love for the sea with family, friends, and charter guests.
In 2012, Ralf’s adventures brought his future wife Betty into the picture. Together they sailed through the seasons in the Caribbean waters for seven incredible years, growing both the Bugaboo’s and their own reputation regionally.
The Bugaboo was eventually sold and they returned to Germany right before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the burning desire to return to sailing remained. Ralf and Betty decided to acquire a newer 2022 version of the favourite Bugaboo Catamaran. The goal was simple: to let others experience the beauty of the Caribbean from aboard through tailored charter experiences.
